About Calvin
Although I felt close to God as a child, I became a confident atheist during my early college years—until one remarkable day.
As I walked home from class, I admired the beautiful blue sky and the joyful pink blossoms adorning the trees. Reflecting on the good things in my world, I exclaimed, “God, I don’t believe in you, but if you exist, give me a sign.”
Soon after, the girl I was dating said, “Jesus means a great deal to me. Will that be a problem?” No, it wasn’t, and the next Sunday found me back in church. Within a few short weeks, I had renewed my childhood faith.
After a successful corporate career, I changed course to lead ministries helping those in need. I grew up in California surrounded by 100-year-old vineyards. When Jesus speaks of vines and harvests, I understand his imagery well.
Colorado is my adopted home. After our internet romance, I moved here to marry Lisa. Leading retreats, speaking, and writing have been highlights of our work together.
I love hiking in the Rocky Mountains and contemplating God in nature. These days, I see myself as a Christian spiritual guide. It’s who I am.
